Insurance Agency – What Does home Insurance Cover?

These are the general items which are covered in most home insurance policies. Each policy is different, and it may offer additional coverages or quite possibly not provide coverage for some of the standard items listed below.

Therefore, it is incredibly important to know what your insurance policy covers.  Make sure everything you want covered is included in the policy for peace of mind in knowing you are covered in case of damage or loss.

Items Typically Covered

  • Damage to the Home – Your coverage can pay to restore or rebuild your property if it’s damaged or destroyed by:

Fire and smoke

Windstorms

Hail

Lightning

Explosions

Vandalism and malicious mischief

Damage from cars, vehicles, and aircrafts

Theft

Weight of ice, snow, or sleet

Falling objects

Explosions

Stolen or Destroyed Belongings

  • Even if your possessions are not physically inside the home, like while you’re traveling, your coverage can reimburse you for any covered loss. However, coverage may not cover the full replacement cost. Many owners buy a private belongings endorsement or floater to bridge the gap. Some of the protected items of personal property include:

Furniture

Clothes

Sports equipment

Jewelry

Furs

Art

Collectibles

Silverware.
